WePlay Esports announced that WePlay Ultimate Fighting League Season 1 will take place from March 25 – April 11, and will feature a prize pool of $150K USD. The league organized by WePlay Esports and undisputed world cruiserweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk will feature competitions in Mortal Kombat 11, SOULCALIBUR VI, and Tekken 7.
The prize pool will be divided equally among the three events, with the Mortal Kombat 11 competition taking place March 25 – 28, SOULCALIBUR VI from April 01–04, and Tekken 7 from April 8 – 11. The first season of the Ultimate Fighting League will be held at the WePlay Esports Arena Kyiv, the same venue used for the WePlay Dragon Temple competition in December.
James Banks, the popular British esports host, commentator, and the general manager of Swedish esports organization Team Alliance is serving as a project consultant at WePlay Esports for its fighting game competitions.
Details on participants, commentators, and other details of WePlay Ultimate Fighting League Season 1 will be announced at a later date.
WePlay announced the new league in December, alongside Usyk. Speaking recently to The Esports Observer, WePlay Esports Managing Partners Oleg Krot and Yura Lazebnikov and Usyk said that they will collectively invest $25M in the new fighting game competition series.
